4.33 Million Foreign Tourists Visit Indonesian Until May: Report

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Tourism Ministry reported that since January until May 2016, the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia has reached 4,433,932 people.
It is also said that the figure shows a slight increase.
“There’s a 7.48 percent increase compared to the number in the same period,” said Deputy Assistant for Tourism Exhibition Affairs for South East Asia of the Tourism Ministry Nurdiansyah in Jakarta on Saturday(3/7).
Nevertheless, he added the ministry does not have the data of the realization of the first semester of 2016 yet because the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) is still coordinating with the Immigration offices on the date of foreign tourists arriving in Indonesia in July 2016.
The Ministry remains upbeat the target set until the end of this year, which is 12 million foreign tourists, could be met.
He added that although the July data has not been released yet, the Ministry expects that the number would reach 40 percent of the target. Regarding the projection, Nurdiansyah believes that the target of 12 million of tourist arrival will be met.
