TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The execution at Limus Buntu Field at Nusakambangan, Cilacap, Central Java was accompanied by heavy rain with thunder, on Friday, July 29, 2016. Nusakambangan Penitentiary Coordinator, Abdul Aris, stated that three of the death row inmates had been executed.
According to Aris, the execution started from 00:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB). He did not mentioned the inmates` names who had been executed. "Let us don`t mention names, it`s not appropriate," said Aris when contacted, Friday, July 29, 2016.
Cilacap District Attorney Head, Agnes Triani, confirmed that the execution had been carried out. However, she did not give detailed desciption. "It had been done, please wait for the official press conference from Jampidum," she said.
One of Tempo`s sources in the execution location also confirmed that it had been done. But the source has not specified how many and who were the inmates that had already been executed. "The telephone line to Sodong was cut off, we haven`t been able to confirm the identities of the executed inmates," he stated.
The original plan is to execute fourteen death row inmates. Until this moment, there had not been any official explanation from the Attorney.
