TEMPO.CO, Bekasi - As many as 46 foreigners in Bekasi Municipality, West Java, had been arrested during some raids by the local immigration office for alleged illegal entry.
“The raids were carried out in Center Point Apartment on Jalan Ahmad Yani South Bekasi on July 25 to July 26, 2016,” said Bekasi Immigration Office Class II boss Edy Ekoputranto Wednesday in Bekasi.
According to him, the expatriates had to be taken to the immigration office for failing to show required immigration documents.
Of the 46 foreigners, 21 were Indian nationals whereas 25 others were hailed from various countries in Europe, America and Asia.
The foreigners had failed to name their tourist destinations.
“In fact, they had no money to live, also failed to show their passports,”
Edy said the foreigners had allegedly violated Article 122, paragraph a of Law No. 6/2011 on Immigration. They could face deportation and five year imprisonment.
“We are still questoning the foreigners before prosecuting them,” he said.
