TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Bank Indonesia governor Agus Martowardojo said that the inflation rate in July is well controlled. He said the rate is still within the year's target range of 4.0 percent, plus-minus 1.0 percent.
Speaking after attending an INDEF discussion at the Trilogi University in Jakarta Wednesday, July 27, Agus said that a maintained inflation rate can be seen in the projection for the first week, which was at 1.2 percent, and leading towards 1.0 percent in the last week.
BI is anticipating the La Nina impact that may cause food prices to fluctuate. Agus is also paying extra attention to the electricity rate adjustment for 900 VA subscribers, which may affect inflation.
"[The price adjustment] is helping the state's fiscal and the energy sector's finances, but it also adds pressure to inflation," he said.
Some contributing factors to inflation control, Agus said , include the trade balance surplus and the increased price index for export commodities.
