14 Death Row Inmates Moved to Isolation Cell

TEMPO.CO, Cilacap-As many as 14 death row drug convicts have reportedly been moved to an isolation cell in Batu Penitentiary, Nusakambangan Island, Cilacap, Central Java, ahead of executions. They had been in the isolation cell since 10 pm Monday, July 25, 2016.

“There are 14 people. Two from Pasir Putih Penitentiary, two from Kembang Kuning Penitentiary, one from Besi Penitentiary, and nine from Batu Penitentiary,” said one source in Batu Penitentiary.

The source said that the isolation cell is located in the compound of Batu Penitentiary. The 14 inmates were moved with the assistance of Central Java Police Mobile Brigade. As such, the executions will take place in three days’ time at the earliest.

A truck carrying tents was seen in Wijayapura Port, Cilacap. The truck was about to cross a bridge towards Nusakambangan Island. It is said that the tents will be erected around Tunggal Panaluan shooting field, Nusakambangan Island, as a transit for prosecutors, executioners and other guests during executions.
