TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Java Governor Ahmad "Aher" Heryawan said that the Marine and Fisheries Affairs Ministry (KKP) will establish a maritime center at the Pangandaran Beach in 2016. “The central government will build a marine center, the KPP has earmarked Rp 189 million budget for [the development of the maritime center]," Aher said in Bandung on July 22, 2016.
Aher said that the maritime center would be developed as a integrated fisheries center with a tourism approach. “We have a 17-hectares land, seven hectares will be allocated [for the maritime center development],” Aher said.
Aher stated that construction of the maritime center will begin in September and is expected to be completed by September 2017. “It will become a fishery and tourism center, fish auctions will be carried out there, it will become a center for fishermen. However, we will adopt a tourism-based approach,” Aher explained.
Aher said in addition to establishing a maritime center, Pangandaran local administration also plans to manage street vendors and revamp the coastal area of Pangandaran . “We often see a chaotic Pangandaran. [God’s willing] it will be managed better, there will be no street vendors [around Pangandaran] by 2017, the beach must be clean,” Aher said.
