TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Central Jakarta has been awarded with the Adipura Kirana prize in the environment field. The award was presented by Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama at the City Hall on Monday, July 25, 2016. Central Jakarta is considered to be one of seven metropolitan cities that have achieved success in its environment.
"We do not claimed that Central Jakarta is free from garbage. Central Jakarta last received the Adipura Kirana [award] in 2013. But the trophy will encourage us [to do better] in the future," Central Jakarta Mayor Mangara Pardede said after receiving the award on Monday, July 25, 2016.
Other cities that have received the award include Semarang, Palembang, Bandung, Makassar, Surabaya, and Tangerang.
Despite receiving the award, Mangara claimed that he has no information on the assessment standards of the award.
