TEMPO.CO, Bekasi - Jakarta Sanitary Agency head Isnawa Adji said that his institution has prepared Rp 35 billion (US$2.7 million) worth of budget to compensate the people living around the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Treatment Area (TPST) after the management of the waste treatment facility was taken over from a private company.
“Every household will receve Rp 500,000 (US$38) once in three months,” Isnawa said on Sunday, July 24, 2016.
According to Isnawa, the amount was increased by Rp 200,000 (US$15) when compared to the previous figure. The payment will be distributed through the Bekasi City administration.
Isnawa revealed that as many as 18,000 families living at Sumur Batu, Ciketing Udik and Cikiwul would be affected by the TPST.
Rizky Febrianto, head of final waste treatment at the Jakarta Sanitary Agency, said that the Jakarta administration would also raise the salary of 381 workers of the Bantargebang TPST up to Rp 3.1 million (US$238).
“They will be listed as Jakarta Sanitary Agency’s employees,” he explained.
Rizky added that the workers would also receive the Lebaran bonus and health insurance from the Healthcare and Workers Social Security Agency (BPJS).
“Other benefits [for the workers] are still being discussed, because they are from various divisions,” Rizky said.
Earlier, the Jakarta administration took over the management of the Bantargebang TPST from PT Godang Tua Jaya. The Jakarta administration issued a contract termination, as the company violated the contract.
