TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat underwent a probe at the National Police's Criminal Investigation Corps (Bareskrim) on Friday, July 22, 2016, for suspected violations in the procurement of a 4.6-hectare land in Cengkareng, West Jakarta.
The Jakarta Housing and Government Building Agency purchased the land for Rp 668 billion (US$51.3 million) from Toeti Noezlar Soekarno back in 2015.
After being questioned for two hours, Djarot did not comment much on the probe. The Deputy Governor said that Bareskrim's investigators asked him 10 questions.
"I have told investigators everything i know. So, please ask them," Djarot said.
Djarot explained that he was questioned for giving his approval for the procurement of land that was actually owned by the Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Resiliency Agency.
"Everyone has their initials [on the approval]. How could I not approve it. But please note that they were initials, not signatures," Djarot added.
In addition to Djarot, Bareskrim has questioned Jakarta governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama on Thursday, last week. Bareskrim has also scheduled Regional Secretary Saefullah in relation to the land procurement.
According to Saefullah, Ahok had provided the Housing Agency and the Jakarta Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) with a disposition a day after Rudi Hartono Iskandar, Toeti's agent, offered the land to Ahok.
"I don't know anything about the disposition," Saefullah said.
The case attracted attentions of three law enforcements, namely Bareskrim, the Attorney General's Office, and the Corruption Eradication Commission. The case exposure resulted in a removal of Housing Agency head Ika Lestary Adji from her position.
