TEMPO.CO, Jambi-President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said that Indonesian people could no longer complain about the influx of foreign workers coming to Indonesia since the global economy agreement was signed more than a decade ago and have been implemented over the last six months.
“We can no longer complain about the influx of foreign workers coming to our country,” Jokowi said when opening the commemoration of the 69th annivesary of the National Cooperative Day in Jambi, on Thursday, July 21, 2016.
According to Jokowi, every country is seeking opportunities and looking at products to be marketed in other countries. Jokowi asserted that keys to survive the condition include focused work and adaptation.
Jokowi claimed that the Pancasila (five principles) and mutual cooperative economy would be the best economic system to be implemented in Indonesia.
“It’s just a question of whether we can transform it into the cooperative system or not,” Jokowi added.
Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister Anak Agung Gde Puspayoga revealed that there are more than 150,000 cooperatives in Indonesia, of which almost half of it are inactive.
“Starting today, our program will focus on quality [of cooperatives], instead of quantity,” he said.
