SOEs Can Absorb Repatriated Funds from Tax Amnesty, Minister Says

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) Minister Rini Soemarno targets state-owned companies (SOEs)and investment managers to absorb up to Rp 200-300 trillion of repatriated funds from the tax amnesty policy.
"For all [financial] instruments," Rini said on Wednesday, July 20, 2016.
Rini said that SOEs are currently preparing a number of investment schemes for tax amnesty participants who plan to repatriate their assets to Indonesia.
Rini explained that for the initial step, the government will use state-owned banks and investment managers as entry points for repatriated funds.
"We offer [tax amnesty participants] to put their funds in [state-owned banks], managed by our investment managers, in forms of deposits, savings, then will we provide investment choices in SOEs," said Rini.
Rini said that currently, there are several running projects that can be offered to tax amnesty participants.
"The Malang-Pandaan toll road for example, which is already completed and has generated revenue. We invite partners [to invest in the toll road] so that SOEs can use the funds to build other toll roads," Rini explained.
