TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Food and Beverage Association (Gapmmi) forsees Rp50 trillion investment in food and beverage industry in 2016.
“We expect it to reach over Rp50 trillion. Based on the trend in the first quarter, it can be achieved and a lot of capital investment will enter Indonesia,” said Gapmmi chairman Adhi Lukman on Wednesday after a halal bi halal gathering with Industry Minister Saleh Husin in Jakarta.
Adhi said that some of the investors have set their sight in intermediate industries, including in artificial flavours and colours production.
Thus, downstream food and beverage industry will get a boost as artificial flavours and colours imports can be reduced.
According to Adhi, three of the investors are Gapmmi members, while the other three are foreign investors from Korea, India and Japan.
“BKPM [the Investment Coordinating Board] chairman Franky Sibarani said that several firms had been serious about investing in Indonesia. I think this year will be quite positive,” he said.
