TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two Batik Air passengers bound for Makassar were arrested at Soekarno-Hatta airport on Saturday for carrying methamphetamine, or known as shabu-shabu in Indonesia.
Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Police Comr. Sr. Awi Setiyono confirmed the news.
"It is true. Both passengers were arrested at 8 am,” he said on July (9/7).
The arrest began from the suspicion of X-ray officials the at departure terminal when the passengers passed the walk through metal detector (WTMD).
Awi said that the airport officials were suspicious because their body shapes looked irregular and their way of walking also seemed to be strange.
"Seeing the irregularities, the officials then conducted body search to them,” Awi said.
It was during the body search that the officials found a total 10 packages containing shabu-shabu bound with fabrics to their stomachs. The suspects were then taken to the Drug Unit of the Soekarno Hatta police for further questioning. The police also confiscated three cellphones, two ticket planes and their ID cards.
