TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Angkasa Pura II CEO Budi Karya Sumadi confirmed that Angkasa Pura has established cooperation with the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) to increase security in airports during Eid al-Fitr.
Budi said that the TNI and Polri will deploy 1,200 personnel to secure 13 airports under the management of Angkasa Pura II. "The number is more that the regular personnel, which is 500 personnel," Budi said on Monday, July 4, 2016.
Budi said that security personnel will not only stationed on important locations, "but will also sweep the parking lots." Budi added that random security checks will be carried out at the airports entrance.
Based on Tempo's observation, several TNI personnel equipped with rifles were being stationed at the departure and arrival terminal of Halim Perdana Kusuma airport, one of the airports managed by Angkasa Pura II.
"The use of assault rifles has been discussed with the TNI, and were allowed by TNI Commander," Budi said.
