27,986 Vehicles Pass Through Cipali Tollway on Saturday Afternoon

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali) Tollway's Administrator - PT Lintas Marga Sedaya (LMS) - said that the number of vehicles that passed through the Tollway between 06:00 and 14:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) on Saturday, June 2, 2016, has reached 27,986.
The number of vehicles that exited at Palimanan's tollgate stood at 21,738. "Meanwhile, the number of vehicles going to the opposite direction towards Jakarta stood at 6.248 units," said the spokesperson for PT LMS, Berliana, on Saturday, July 2, 2016.
The volume of traffic along the Cipali Tollway has continued to increase since Friday, June 1, 2016 - and currently, the average number of east-bound vehicles have reached 58,800 per day.
"This represents a 25 percent increase from the average figure we recorded on Friday, which stood at 47,003 vehicles per day," explained Berliana, before explaining that on an average day outside of the Homecoming season, the number usually averages at around 12,000 units per day.
All in all, continued Berliana, the number of vehicles that passed through the Cipali Tollway has increased by a fivefold - and today's average broke the last year's record average figure, where the average number of vehicles reached 53,420 units per day.
Severe congestion have been reported all along the Cipali Tollway, with long queues of vehicles stretching for almost 10 kilometres were observed along the Tollway's exit booths since Homecoming traffic begins to spike in the last few days.
