TEMPO.CO, Tangerang-Deputy of Community Empowerment for the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Inspector Gen. Bachtiar Tambunan said he has caught two airplane crews at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten, who allegedly have consumed drugs, based on a urine test done by BNN and the Transportation Ministry.
“A temporary investigation result shows a co-pilot and a stewardess were believed to have consumed amphetamine,” Bachtiar said Wednesday, June 29, 2016.
Bachtiar said the two airplane crews from different airlines are currently set as suspects. “We're still waiting for the lab result to confirm the content of the substance and drugs consumed,” he said.
Both suspects admitted to have consumed the drugs as medicine for their illness. They have also been suspended for flying until the test result come out.
The Transportation Ministry and BNN Banten Province organized an impromptu urine test to the airplane crews at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
“This is done to ensure the security and safety of flights throughout homecoming season,” said Bachtiar.
