TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Industrial Ministry has trimmed its 2016 budget by Rp 369.5 billion. With the cut, the Ministry's budget is down to Rp 2.89 trillion from the initial Rp 3.26 trillion allocated in the 2016 State Budget.
"The budget cut has been approved by the House of Representatives' (DPR) Commission VI," Industry Minister Saleh Husin said in a written statement dated Tuesday, June 28, 2016.
Saleh said his ministry and Commission VI have both agreed not to accept an additional budget of Rp 100 billion as offered by the Finance Minister Regulation No.S-522/MK.02/2016 on June 23.
"We decide not to take the additional budget and just work with what we have." Saleh said.
The Industrial Ministry decided to exercise cost efficiency measures, cutting down the budgets of several programs. Some programs' budget are not lowered, however, including the Growth and Development of Small and Medium Industry program, which has its budget remaining at Rp 432.87 billion.
Saleh said the small, medium industry program budget is left untouched because the ministry aims to fully support the growth of Indonesia's SME sector.
