TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency raided a house in Bekasi, West Java that is suspected of producing fake vaccines.
The house, which is located in Kemang Pratama, Bojongrawalumbu sub-district, Rawalumbu district, is the perpetrators’ house.
Commander of the housing complex security officer Eko Supriyanto, said dozens of police used private cars raided the house, which is inhabited Taufiqurahman Hidayat and his wife, Rita Agustina, in Jalan Kumala.
"We were surprised to be asked a witness, " Eko said.
He explained that the officers conducted raids at around 21:00 pm on Wednesday.
Initially, the police come to the wrong house and the house is just three houses away.
"Perhaps because it was during night and the dark, they came to the wrong house," Eko added.
Police later raided a two-story house inhabited by a couple Taufiqurahman and Rita based on the information of a courier who brought the officers.
"When it was raided, they have just come from doing taraweeh (evening prayer during Ramadan)," Eko said.
Initially, he said, the couple argued but after the officers found evidence in the form of thousands of bottles of suspected fake vaccines, they did not do anything. They were brought into the police’s car.
Thousands of bottles were stored in the worship rooms and the bedroom. In total there are 36 boxes confiscated by the officers.
