TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Central bank Bank Indonesia (BI) estimates that inflation rate in June 2016 or during Ramadan reaches 0.56 percent, largely driven by pressures arising from high food prices.
"The highest concern is on the pressure of prices such as price of chicken meat and eggs," BI Governor Agus Martowardojo said in Jakarta on Friday.
For the record, prediction of the Central Bank's inflation decreased compared to the inflation assessment in the second week of June, by 0.61 percent.
According to Agus, price pressures are still overshadowing until Eid Day this year, especially from volatile prices of food commodities, mainly rice, sugar, and shallot.
BI also estimates that high consumption trend continues in July 2016 for the celebration of Eid Day and students’ holidays.
