TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The state's social security agency's health (BPJS Kesehatan) and labor (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan) divisions are suggested to integrate the technologies they have to meet membership targets.
House of Representatives (DPR) Commission IX member Irma Suryani said the public is now more familiar with the benefits offered by BPJS. The commission continues to coordinate with the agency's directors and supervising council (Dewas) to strengthen the BPJS' operations.
The agency's two divisions, she said, have different participants' databases that should be swapped and combined.
"Meaning that BPJS Ketenagakerjaan's participants should also be BPJS Kesehatan's participants," she said on Tuesday, June 14, Bisnis Indonesia reported.
Timboel Siregar, coordinator of advocates at BPJS Watch, said the labor and health divisions of the BPJS should integrate their resources instead of running solely on their own like what happens now. Through technology, he said, the agency can identify BPJS Ketenagakerjaan's participants that are not registered as policyholders of the national health insurance (JKN) program.
Timboel said that membership is the main pillar of BPJS's program sustainability. By 2019, BPJS Kesehatan is targeting to have all Indonesians as registered participants, while BPJS Ketenagakerjaan's 2019 target is to have 125 million participants.
