TEMPO.CO, Depok-Depok Mayor is expected to be able to change the policy on road construction. "The city only focuses on North to South access. No other alternatives," said member of Commission C of DPRD Depok, Qurtifa Wijaya.
He said that for 15 years, the government has failed to construct road connecting East and West. It also failed to widen the road in Sawangan to Iskandar Toll Road.
The road is the only one connecting East and West in Depok. It gets crowded everyday, especially on the weekend.
Moreover, some roads are flood-prone, causing vehicles difficult to pass by.
Qurtifa Wijaya said that road construction in Depok is only at 0.7 percent. On the other hand, vehicle growth rate in Depok is at 9 percent.
Unfortunately, Depok City Administration is not focusing on allotting fund for road construction. Authorities claim that they merely focus on road maintenance and improvement.
