TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism Ministry announced that Mandeh in the Southern Cost of West Sumatra would be designated as a tourism special economic zone by highlighting the marine beauty that it offers.
Chairman of the Working Group of the Acceleration of 10 Destinations Priority of the Ministry Hiramsyah Sambudhy Thaib in a statement on Saturday said after the West Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno designated Mandeh as a center for tourism, facilities such as hotel, meeting halls (convention hall), restaurant, and others will be built in Mandeh in a 400 hectares of land.
Mandeh is located in the Koto XI Tarusan District, Pesisir Selatan Regency and is directly adjacent to the city of Padang.
In mid 2017, Mandeh, which is 56 kilometers from the city of Padang, is expected to be like Nusa Dua in Bali.
"In the past, Nusa Dua was left behind from Denpasar and was away from the hustle and bustle of Kuta, and lacked minimal public facilities. Now, Nusa Dua is already a world class destination and has convention centers," Hiramsyah added.
