TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Indonesia Forum for Budget Transparency (FITRA) has urged President Joko Widodo to reshuffle his cabinet, particularly two economic affairs ministers for disappointing performances. Secretary-General of FITRA Yenny Sucipto said the two are Finance Minister Brodjonegoro and State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno.
“Finance minister fails to show good performance in state revenue issue,” Yenny told Tempo at FITRA’s office, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, Monday, June 5, 2016.
Due to the disappointing performance, Indonesia has seen state budget deficit that has made implications to fiscal space. It is caused by the lack of effort to push for more independent management of state finance.
In addition, Yenny has also criticized the plan for tax amnesty that only shows that Finance Ministry has not done his job well in optimizing state revenue through taxes. “[The government proceed with the plan] even though Bank Indonesia had said that tax amnesty will not provide contribution [to the state budget],”
Whereas FITRA considered that SOEs Minister Rini Soemarno has no road map for SOEs management. Yenny said that the neither the holdings nor the subsidiaries of SOEs have any road map. He considered it as ironic, because SOEs should have been leading the economy to be more independent. “We want Rini Soemarno to be reshuffled.”
