TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian women’s singles shuttler Lindaweni Fanetri was forced to admit the superiority of her opponent Line Kjaersfeldt and her difficulties to deal with the tempo played by the Danish player, who has knocked her out in the first round of BCA Indonesia Open Super Series Premier 2016.

The defeat means that she has failed to meet her target of at least reaching the quarter-finals as in the previous Indonesia Open.

“Her tempo was very quick. She attacked me constantly, but I was unable to deal with her tempo,” Linda said in a press conference after the game in Senayan Sports Complex, Jakarta, on Tuesday, May 31, 2016.

Linda, who was defeated 12-21 in the first game, responded with a 21-18 win in the second game. In the deciding game, the battle was heating up. Linda led 11-10, but Kjaersfeldt was able to catch up and turned the table, with the score reading 16-14 over Linda.

Linda came from behind at 14-18 to equalize 19-19. Linda, however, had to suffer a defeat after Kjaersfeldt hit back without giving her any chance to take additional points. Linda was defeated 19-21.

“In the third game Line played quicker. She continued to attack and her defense was difficult to breach, since she had also changed her style of play, whereas my defense was poor. She had more control,” said Linda, who is ranked 22nd in the world.

It was Linda’s first encounter with Line, who is ranked No. 26 in the world. Earlier, Indonesia had pinned its hopes on Linda to emulate her success in the BWF World Championships 2015 in Senayan, in which she secured bronze for Indonesia.
