TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Iran’s state-owned company National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) will supply liquified petroleum gas (LPG) to PT Pertamina (Persero) in 2016 and 2017.
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said stated in a press release on Monday, May 30, 2016, that the cooperation in LPG supply is a new milestone.
“I am elated that the economic and business relations between Indonesia and Iran are getting closer and better from time to time,” he added.
The cooperation in LPG supply from NIOC to Pertamina is agreed at 88,000 tons for 2016 and will be increased to 500,000 tons in 2017, according to him.
Vice President Corporate Communication of Pertamina Wianda Pusponegoro said the first LPG delivery is targeted to take place in the fourth quarter of 2016.
“This year, the delivery of two cargos has been scheduled, whereas 2017 will see the delivery of 12 cargos, so that the total volume will reach 600,000 tons,” she added.
Indonesia’s demand for LPG continues to increase every year, according to her.
In 2016, Pertamina’s LPG sale is expected to reach 7.5 million tons, a 13.6 percent increase compared to that of 2015.
Aside from LPG, Pertamina and NIOC have also agreed to continue talks on crude oil supply and cooperation opportunities in the upstream sector, Wianda added.
