TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Immigration authorities of Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, have arrested two Taiwanese nationals, 44-year old Yu Tsai alias Chen and 30 year-old Hsiao Tzu Hung alias Hung, for allaged involvement with an international drug ring.
Head of Immigration Community Relations Heru Santoso has confirmed the report. “Yes, it’s true,” he told Tempo yesterday, May 29, 2016.
The two man were arrested by immigration authorities on Saturday, May 28. Chen and Hung are alleged owners of crystal meth that was smuggled by a courier through Soekarno Hatta Airport on May 23.
From the courier’s arrest, authorities had cracked down a warehouse in Tangerang, confiscating evidence of 70 kilograms of crystal meth.
The courier had lead authorities to arrest Chen and Hung. The two men entered Indonesia through Bali.
In Bali, authorities were unable to nab them as they weren’t aware of the suspects’ whereabouts. Their name had been included in the state’s wanted list (DPO). Immigration authorities had only arrested them when they were about to left Bali to return home.
Both have been denying allegations of the possession of the evidence. Authorities will confront them with the courier that is currently under custody. Authorities have confiscated suspects’ passports, belongings and cell phones.
