TEMPO.CO, Semarang- Author Yudhi M.S. has passed away from a suspected heart attack at Mardirahayu Hospital in Kudus Regency, Central Java, on Thursday, May 26, 2016.
"He was at the launching of Soewarno M. Serad's biography on Thursday afternoon, when suddenly he felt weak and had to be rushed to the hospital," fellow author Jumari H.S. in Kudus told Tempo on Friday, May 27, 2016.
Yudhi's funeral and memorial service were held at Jl. Nyai Dasima in Kudus, and his body was finally laid to rest at Ploso General Cemetery at 09.00 on Friday. Yudhi leaves behind a wife, and a son.
Yudhi was known for his active role in the literary movement in Kudus, where he established the Kudus Writers Community (KPK) in the 90s.
"The KPK has produced a lot of renowned authors, such as Puntodewo, Musi Sirad, Rahardi Noor, and as well as other authors from the younger generation," said Jumari, who considers Yudhi as a literary figure and his mentor. "He was the reason why I delved into the world of literature."
Yudhi M.S. had been active in in the literature since the 80s, and had churned out a plethora of poems, short stories, and novels. His final novel, Seputih Jilbab Fransiska (As White as Fransika’s Hijab), was about to be published, but his passing means that his work will be published posthumously.
"Only samples have been printed so far," explained Jumari.
