TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairman of the Indonesian Consumer Protection Foundation (YLKI) Tulus Abadi has conveyed a strong protest to state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I that still allows cigarette ads at Ahmad Yani airport in Semarang, Central Java.
According to Tulus, those cigarette ads are even put inside the airport’s terminals.
“This is very embarrassing. As an international airport, Ahmad Yani airport is still full of cigarette ads,” Tulis said in a written statement on Saturday (28/5).
Tulis added that an airport is a public place that must be free of cigarettes (kawasan tanpa rokok/KTR).
He refers to the provision of the Law on Health and the Government Regulation Number 109 of 2012 on the control of tobacco products as addictive commodities.
He added that those cigarette-free areas are not only restricted for smoking but also for cigarette ads.
Therefore, the YLKI has urged state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I to immediately remove the ads.
