TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The art and culture team of Wakatobi District, Southeast Sulawesi, have been invited by Jeju provincial administration to feature in Jeju Cultural Festival in November 2016.
“Wakatobi art and culture team, particularly the dancers have been aksed to feature in a cultural stage of Jeju’s biggest cultural festival,” Wakatobi Regent Hagua told Antara news agency yesterday.
Jeju provincial administration expect Jeju Culture Festival to be visited by millions of people, Hagua said. Aside from residents of Jeju and surrounding areas, international visitors will also come to see the cultural festival.
“We can confirm that Wakatobi art and culture team will feature in the festival as they will not only entertain the visitors, but also promote Wakatobi culture at international stage,” Hagua said.
Regent Hagua and entourage have been in Jeju to follow up the memorandum of understanding on the development three areas between Wakatobi administration and Jeju provincial administration which was signed on September 7, 2015. The three areas are tourism, low-carbon city development and integrated waste management.
“We will soon carry out cooperation programs in the three areas. In the near future, Jeju administration will pay a courtesy visit to Wakatobi, Indonesia,” he said.
