TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Persib Bandung manager Umuh Muchtar will send a letter to Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil asking for permission to use Gelora Bandung Lautan Api (GBLA) Stadium. The stadium will be used as Persib venue ahead of Torabika Soccer Championship (TSC) matches on September 2016.
“I hope GBLA is ready to be used,” Umuh told reporters yesterday at Wisma Persib at Jalan Ahmad Yani, Bandung City.
The reason behind the move is because Si Jalak Harupat Stadium will be used as a venue for National Sports Week (PON) XIX/West Java, on September 17-29, 2016. Umuh refused to speculate on the selection of Persib homebase. At present, there is no other option of venue for Persib’s home matches aside from GBLA.
“We will push for Gedebage [GBLA] first. If it still can’t be used, what’s wrong? If the problem persists, it should be investigated, we have had a permit to use it before” he said.
A construction defect has allegedly occured to GBLA stadium, which was built with a budget of Rp1.1 trillion. Criminal Investigation Unit of Police Headquarters has named one suspect in the construction project of the biggest stadium in West Java.
Currently, Bandung administration is renovating the stadium which is located in Gedebage, Bandung City. “Renovation process will take around three months,” Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil said.
