TEMPO/Frannoto

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police has found 6 kilograms of crystal meth brought by three Taiwan nationals at Sun Plaza Serpong, Tangerang, just recently.

They were identified as CHJ, LDC, and CMT. Jakarta Police Director of Drugs Sr. Comr. John Turman Panjaitan said, the three of them are not couriers, they are middle managers instead. “Because they get [the drugs] directly from the drug lord for further distribution,” John said on Monday at Jakarta Metro Police headquarters.

John said the drug lord is an Indonesian with the initial W who arranged the import of the generator. The generator is used to smuggle crystal meth from China to enter Jakarta port, he said. John said the generator was stored in Bizlink warehouse complex in Cikupa, Tangerang.

However, during a search, police found nothing in the generator. During the arrest of W in his residence in Paramount, Serpong on May 22, police found 54 kilograms of crystal meth. “The item was stored at Paramount residence, Serpong. We cooperated with the security [officers], they entered the house. In it, we found 54 kilograms of crystal meth,” John said.

Police confiscated 60 kilograms of crystal meth. John said the suspects are charged with violating article 114 paragraph (2) subsidiary article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction of article 132 paragraph (1) of Law No. 35/2009 on Narcotics. They could face a maximum penalty of death and a maximum of Rp10 billion in fines.
