TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Victoria Training and Skills Minister Steven Herbert said Indonesia has imported 19,000 tons of horticultural products from State of Victoria, Australia, throughout 2014-2015.
Indonesia is one of the main market for horticultural products from Victoria, Steven said in a statement on Monday, May 23, 2016.
According to Herbert, the 19,000 tons of horticultural products exported to Indonesia, were the nine percent of the total global market of Victoria’s horticultural products.
Herbert also said Victoria has reached AU$42 million from the horticultural products trade with Indonesia in 2014 and 2015.
Currently, State of Victoria has exported high-quality horticultural products to various countries, including India, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, Spain, Japan, China, and United States.
One of top horticultural products from Victoria is fruit. As many as 90 percent of pears and 45 percent of apples are cultivated in Victoria.
“Even, last year’s fruit export value from Victoria reached AU$369 million,” he added.
The achievement of Victoria’s fruit export in global market is based on the commitment of farmers in Victoria to maintain the freshness of the fruit by keeping it hygienic.
Herbert expects more Indonesian consumers can later enjoy high-quality fruits from Victoria.
