BPJS Posts Rp624.6bn Surplus

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The state's social service agency for workers (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan) recorded a surplus of Rp19.64 trillion in 2015, comprising of Rp624.6 billion asset surplus and Rp19.02 trillion of social security fund (DJS) surplus.



The agency's president director Agus Susanto said that their financial performances were audited by public accountant office based Yusuf Amir Abadi Yusuf, Aryanto, Mawar and partners (RSM Indonesia).

As of December 31, 2015, the agency has 296,791 companies with 19.2 million workers as active participants.

"BPJS Ketenagakerjaan's premium income in 2015 reached Rp36.2 trillion," Agus said in Jakarta Monday, May 23, 2016.

Meanwhile, the agency paid Rp17.9 trillion in claims, which are divided into Rp17.4 trillion to wage workers and Rp22 billion to non-wage workers.

At the end of last year, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan's total assets amounted to Rp214.52 trillion, comprising of Rp11.08 trillion worth of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan's assets and Rp203.44 trillion worth of social security funds.

Out of said assets, the agency's asset under management (AUM) amounted to Rp206.61 trillion at the end of 2015, with a return of Rp17.06 trillion.

Meanwhile, the state's social security agency for health, BPJS Kesehatan, predicted an increase in deficit this year. BPJS Kesehatan's planning and development director Mundiharno, said the deficit could exceed Rp7 trillion, caused by an increase in participants number.

Last year, the BPJS Kesehatan's deficit reached Rp5.2 trillion.
