Ministry to Revitalize Low-cost Apartments in North Kalimantan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Directorate General of the Provision of Housing of the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry announced it that was ready to revitalize low-cost apartments for workers in border areas in Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan province.
According to the ministry, those low-cost apartments are very much needed by Indonesian migrant workers in the areas.
"We will revitalize low-cost apartments in Nunukan. The building of insfrastructures and housing for tesidents in Malaysia-Indonesian borders is our priority,” said Director General of the Provision of Housing of the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry Syarif Burhanuddin on Friday, (19/5) during a visit to low-cost apartments of workers in Kabupaten Nunukan, North Kalimantan.
According to Syarif, those low-cost apartments are built in strategic locations because they are located near Sei Jepun seaport, which is used by migrant workers who are going to return to Indonesia.
"We hope that these low-cost apartments will be used for workers in North Kalimantan and as a transit for Indonesian migrant workers who are returning from Malaysia,” he added.
