TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Agung Wicaksono, deputy head of the national power development program, said that the 35,000-megawatt program needed a synergy between three ministries.
“In this program, there must be a synergy between the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister, the State-Owned Enterprises Minister, and the Finance Minister,” Agung said in Jakarta on Saturday, May 14, 2016.
Agung explained that the three ministries would serve functions as a regulator, a share owner and a state treasurer. Agung viewed that those who are involved in the 35,000-megawatt program had not aligned their priorities yet. In terms of the tariff, Agung said that the Enegy and Mineral Resources Ministry and the State-Owned Ministry had different opinions.
In addition, the state electricity company (PLN) as the operator must prioritize company’s profit. However Agung said that the program should not be viewed only from economic and financial perspectives.
“Managing power must involve brain and money, as well as heart and infrastructures,” Agung added.
Agung suggested that financial issues should not hamper the program, and the government must support and provide the solution.
“PLN must see this as a state program, instead of a corporate program,” Agung urged.
