Tourist Destinations Remain Favorite Places during Long Holiday

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-PT Angkasa Pura (AP) II corporate secretary Agus Hariyadi said that tourist destinations remained favorite places during the long holiday this week.
“Based on our observations, most [of the passengers] are on vacation. All destinations are having an increased number of visitors, but the number of passengers heading to tourist destinations jumped significantly,” Agus told Tempo on Thursday, May 5, 2016.
Among cities with a significant increase in the number of visitors are Denpasar, Surabaya and Medan.
Over the last two days, Agus revealed that the number of passengers at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport reached 850,605 passengers, increasing by 41% compared to regular days. The traffic aircraft movement was predicted to rise by 33 percent to 5,858 movements when compared to regular days.
“The peak of the departures occurred on Wednesday afternoon, and the peak of return flow is expected to take place on Sunday afternoon,” Agus added.
Agus revealed that AP II had coordinated with relevant institutions to anticipate a significant rise in the number of passengers.
