TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Rizal Ramli has threatened to stop the project of reclaimed Islet C and D in Jakarta Bay should the developer fails to immediately comply with the government regulations. “We expect the developer to fulfill its promises to avoid further problems,” Rizal said when visiting Islet C and D in the Jakarta Bay on Wednesday, May 4, 2016.
Rizal said the developer has promised to make corrections on the requirement and comply with the applicable regulations. He wants the reclamation project to not only benefit the developer but also the country and the people.
“We need a win-win solution, for the benefit of all,” he said. The developer has to comply with the rules by taking into account the marine organisms, marine current, flood risk assessment and impact on the community. “A review is a must.”
At present his office expects the developer to complete the remaining requirement. If the developer fails to respond to the threat issued by the government, he will not hesitate to stop the reclamation project. “Anyone who fails to oblige or breach the rules, we will stop the reclamation project.”
Earlier, Minister Rizal inspected reclaimed Islet C and D, North Jakarta, together with Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti, Environmental Affairs and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya and the developer.
