TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Anyone passing by the Tredici Ristorante building in the Senopati area, South Jakarta will immediately notice that it is a restaurant. Tredici is the Italian word for 'thirteen', the number of youngsters who first established the restaurant.
The restaurant, which opens from 11:AM Western Indonesia Time and 150 seats available, serves authentic Italian food, ranging from pizzas, pastas, and calzone (folded pizza).
Tempo was delighted to take a bite off of the restaurant's calzone - filled with smoked meat, spinach, and of course, mozzarella -, which gives a hint of sweetness. "I did not add sugar [to the calzone]. Maybe it's the spinach," said Chef De Carlini Mario, who is an Italian.
For the dessert Tempo ordered Panna Cotta con Fragole, soft pudding made of vanilla ice cream coupled with strawberry slices and assorted biscuits.
Finally, Tempo ordered the Major Apple Mojito, a concoction of fresh green apple with freshly squeezed lime to wash down the meaty and cheesy flavor of the food.
Chef Mario claimed that all of the dishes served in the Tredici are classic Italian cuisine. "I am a classic chef, I did not invent new foods, or make fusion [combined] food," Mario said.
