TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Oesman Sapta, deputy speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), is asking the public to wait patiently for the government to make a decision about the tax amnesty law.
The bill is currently being discussed by the government and the House of Representatives (DPR).
"Let them work and think of what is best for the people and the country. Right now they are in discussion session—let's all wait for the outcome," he said when attending the inauguration ceremony of the Indonesian Accountants Institute-Tax Accountants Compartment's (IAI-KAP) management body for the period of 2016- 2018 in Jakarta, as stated in the MPR's written statement, Tuesday, May 3.
Oesman said that the world of taxation is a major one in a nation's development. In developed countries, tax has a very significant role in development.
"This nation must realize the importance of tax, thus we will all have the consciousness to be obedient taxpayers that contribute to the welfare of the people of Indonesia. That contribution is a reflection of the implementation of Pancasila and the noble values of the Indonesian people," he said.
Oesman hopes that in the future Indonesia will be able to achieve its tax targets better, in order to build a better Indonesia.
"I hope that Indonesia's taxation realm will be better in the future, and that the government's targets would be achieved for the sake of the country's overall development," Oesman said.
