TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) reported a hacking attack launched against the Commission's website to the Crime Investigation Agency of the National Police on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. KPAI officials came to the agency bringing evidence.
"KPAI is coordinating [with the Police] on a hacking attack. [We] bring state documents that can be used as reference to assert public control on child-related cases," said Asrorin Ni’am Sholeh, KPAI Chairman on Tuesday, May 3, 2016.
Asrorin suspected that the attackers decided to hack KPAI’s website because the commission is currently on the process of blocking various online game website. Asrorin argued that many online games are harmful for children because it contain elements of violence, gambling, and pornography.
"This is KPAI's attempt to fight malicious websites. The government stated that such websites are forbidden," Asrorin said.
Asrorin added that the KPAI will take legal steps in response to the website hack in accordance with Law No. 11/2008 on Information and Electronic Transaction.
