TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affair Darmin Nasution said that Indonesia’s inflation is heading to the right direction. "[Year-on-year] inflation is heading to the three to four percent level," Darmin said on Monday, May 2, 2016.
Darmin said that the government expects to record no more than four percent of inflation in 2016. Darmin stated that based on data collected until April 2016, inflation rate is moving between the expected range.
Recently, Chairman of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Suryamin announced that there was a 0.45 percent deflation recorded on April 2016. In the previous month, BPS recorded a 0.19 inflation.
Suryamin said that the deflation rate recorded on April 2016 is the highest since 2000, year-on-year. Such condition, according to Suryamin, indicates that commodity prices are still under control.
