TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Economic Minister Darmin Nasution said that the all business owners were required to participate in the 2016 Economic Census conducted that the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).
“No company shall refuse [to participate in] the census. No one can refuse,” Darmin said after having a census at his residence in South Jakarta on Sunday, May 1, 2016.
Darmin revealed that the 2016 Economic Census was not related to taxes. Darmin guaranteed that personal data collected by the BPS would not be disclosed to the Directorate General of Taxation.
The 2016 economic census that will last for 30 days starting from May 1, 2016 involves 300,000 BPS staff.
BPS head Suryamin said that tens of millions of business owners would be required to participate in the census. Suryamin added that the 2016 Economic Census would provide an outlook on Indonesia’s economic potential.
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo called on business owners to be cooperative with the government in running the economic census. Jokowi added that Business owners should not be afraid to reveal data on their companies, because the economic census would not collect data on taxes.
