TEMPO.CO, Sleman - Joglosemar (Jogja-Solo-Semarang) tourism program is officially launched to increase visits toward eight flagship tourism destination in those cities. The cooperation between 12 State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) are expected to boost foreign visit of 20 million people in Indonesia.
SOE Minister Rini Soemarno launched the program on Wednesday, Apr 27, at Prambanan Temple (Candi Prambanan). “Borobudur is a magnet to attract tourist,” Joglosemar Regional Coordinator Edy Setidjono and CEO of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Candi Prambanan, and Candi Boko said Wednesday, Apr 27.
Edy targets 2 million foreign travelers and 11 million local tourists to travel to those three cities in 2019. Besides Borobudur, also promoted are Cande Prambanan, Boko, Kedung Songo, Lawang Sewu, Yogyakarta and Surakarta Palace, and train museum in Ambarawa.
There are four programs to increase tourist visit to Joglosemar, including destination and event development, as well as infrastructure and accessibility development. “There’s also a promotion and community development program to preserve the environment,” said Edy.
Yogyakarta Governor Sultan Hamengku Buwono X says Yogyakarta, Solo and Semarang are areas that are very strategic. It can be developed by contributing forces.
SOE Rini Soemarno says Joglosemar became a tourist attraction and a contributor for tourist visit both domestic and foreign.
Joglosemar is one of the main tourist destination. “We encourage on how Solo Airport can accomodate planes from abroad. We are building a railway from Solo to Yogyakarta Airport,” said Rini.
