TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police have arrested 37-year-old Derrick Ichwan, a private employee who was caught growing marijuana plants inside his apartment in North Jakarta. Those marijuanas were planted using pots. “We apprehended the suspect on Monday for the abuse of marijuana,” West Jakarta Resort Police Chief Senior Commissioner Rudy Heryanto Adi Nugroho said Wednesday, Apr 27.
The suspect cultivated marijuana from its seeds that are planted in several small pots. Next, the seeds were moved to a large pot in order for it to grow. After the plant grew large, the suspect will harvest it and sell the weeds.
From the arrest, authorities have seized 6 large pots of marijuana trees that are ready for harvest, 7 large pots of marijuana tree, 15 small pots of marijuana trees, 20 block of sponge containing seeds of marijuana trees, and 8 dry marijuanas weighing 1,500 grams. In addition, police found 1 jar of wet cannabis weighing 1,000 grams.
For his crime, the suspect is threatened with article 114 paragraph 2, Sub-Section 113 paragraph 2, Sub-Section 111 paragraph 2 of the Narcotics Law Year 2009 and is punishable for a minimum of 20 years or life in jail, said Rudy. The suspect is currently in custody at the West Jakarta Resort Police Department for further investigation.
