TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government has recently announced its 12th economic policy package, which is focused on providing ease of doing business for small-medium enterprises. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said that policy package contains 10 important points formulated to increase Indonesia’s ease of doing business global rank from number 109 out of 198 countries, to number 40
"[The policy package] covers lower costs, and acceleration in starting a new business," Jokowi said at the State Palace on Thursday, April 28, 2016. Jokowi expected the policy to provide a significant effect for the central and regional government.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution said that the new policy covers many aspects. Darmin added that the policy adopts economic practices common in many countries.
One example of the advantage provided by the policy was business owners can spend at least four months to start a business while previously, the same process could take up years. "It is still considerably lengthy, but still, it’s a major improvement," Darmin said.
Another example was the policy allow businesses to apply for a Trade Business License and Company Registration License at the same time instead of having to undergo two separate process.
