TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Riots broke out at Banceuy prison in Banding on Saturday morning. A joint team from West Java Police and Bandung Police has managed to contain and stop the riots.
"We’ve managed to take control of the prison after the riots and we have also arrested two inmates allegedly became the provocateurs for questioning,” said Bandung Police Chief Sr. Comr. Yoyol in Bandung.
Yoyol added that the police deployed around 600 officers to contain the riots, which began at 8 am on Saturday. He added that at least five police officers were injured when trying to stop the riots.
For the record, the riots began after an inmate was found hanging to death, prompting a number of inmates to set fire on the prison.
