TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An Indonesian restaurant named ‘Wonderful Indonesia’ has been opened in Anhui Province, China, as part of the effort to promote Indonesia tourism and culture in China.
Indonesian Tourism Minister Arief Yahya on Saturday attended the opening of the restaurant, which offers 30 kinds Indonesian cuisine.
The restaurant is located at Jinzhai Road No. 311 Shushan District, Hefei, Anhui and occupies a 400 meter-square area. The restaurant also has two Indonesian chefs.
Arief added that Indonesia has at least 5,300 distinctive cuisines from 17,000 islands in the archipelago and said that those culinary attractions can support the country’s tourism industry.
For the record, the Tourism Ministry has designated culinary promotion as part of Indonesia’s tourism promotion in China, which is considered as one of the biggest potential markets for Indonesia’s tourism industry.
The Indonesian government has also set a target that the number of Chinese tourists visiting Indonesia this year can reach 2.1 million people.
