TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chief Agus Rahardjo said that his institution could summon former Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo and Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama as witnesses in connection with a graft case involving Jakarta Legislative Council member Mohammad Sanusi and PT Agung Podomoro Land president Director Ariesman Widjaja.
“[The KPK] may summon [Fauzi Bowo and Ahok]. The case will be developed. We’re still investigating it,” Agus said at the Sepuluh November Institute of Technology (ITS) in Surabaya on Saturday, April 2, 2016.
Agus explained that Agung Podomoro had applied for the reclamation permit since Fauzi Bowo served as the Jakarta Governor. The discussion of the Regional Regulation draft on the reclamation of the North Jakarta Coast for the period of 2015-2035 was conducted before former Jakarta governor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo took office.
“If I’m not mistaken, there was no discussion [about the reclamation permit] during Jokowi’s era. The permit was reapplied when Ahok took office,” Agus added.
Earlier, the KPK named Agung Podomoro Land president director Ariesman Widjaja as a suspect for allegedly bribing Sanusi to grease the regional regulation on the reclamation permit.
“This is a big case since it involves an investment worth trillions of rupiahs,” Agus said.
Ahok said that he would be ready to be probed by the KPK in connection with the bribery case, since it was related to the regional regulation discussed by the Jakarta administration and the City Council.
“I’m fine with the summons. We posted our meetings on YouTube. Every meetings are transparent, including the content of the Regional Regulation,” Ahok said in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, on Friday, April 1, 2016.
