TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of South Jakarta Food Security, Agriculture and Maritime Affairs Agency Kristrisasi Helenandari said that at least 20 chickens and muscovy ducks in West Cilandak sub-district, South Jakarta, were dead after tested positive for bird flu.
It was reported that those chickens and ducks were suddenly dead.
"After being tested positive for bird flu, those poultry were destroyed by focal culling and was followed by biosecurity disinfection,” Kristriasi said on Saturday (19/3).
Kristrisasi added that those poultry were first known to have died on 15 March. She added that officials from the agency received reports on poultry being infected on the following day and immediately took some samples for laboratory checking.
Nevertheless, Head of South Jakarta Healthy Agency Heny Fachrudin said that although some poultry were affected by bird flu, none of the residents has been reported to be infected by bird flu.
