TEMPO.CO, Padang - The West Sumatra National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has suspected a drug dealing to occur inside Class II A Muara Kota Padang Penitentiary.
“The allegation of drug dealing at Muara Penitentiary was corroborated by findings on Wednesday night’s raid (Mar 16) of one small crystal meth package, a digital scale, a bong, Rp 644,000 in cash, dozens of mobile phones and weapons,” West Sumatra National Narcotics Agency Chief Ali Azhar said in Padang Thursday.
After a random urine test was performed towards 120 inmates, 30 of them tested positive in using drugs.
BNN has also seized 20 various smartphone brands.
“The smartphones will be checked one by one to check its messages and phone records,” Azhar said.
Head of West Sumatra Law and Human Rights Ministry Office Ansharuddin vows to help BNN in investigating the case at Muara Padang Penitentiary.
Ansharuddin said that prisoners who got tested positive of drugs will be reviewed in receiving remission and parole, as it is clearly a violation.
